I actually did this at AC, someone had given me a piece of wood to draw on so they could practice woodburning on it, but they haven't gotten back with me since I emailed them. 7__7 There are a few anatomical inconsistencies that bug me a bit, but I like the overall effect so I thought I'd post it.

Sticker Design, self-promo by chlorophyta

The first of a few self-promo pieces I'll be doing for my final project in Media this semester. This one's a 2.5"x3.5" vynl sticker that I just sent to be printed. This is the first full colored pencil piece I've done in a long time. I guess I need a reminder now and then how annoying it is to make everything look smooth and nice. I loved how it looked in the sketch that I did thursday morning, though, and wanted to keep the effect. The original for this is a little over 5"x7" because I wanted it to tighten up when printed at the smaller size.

Jon Foster is a visiting artist to my school this week, and he talked about his work for a while yesterday before giving a demo. I filled several pages of notes on what he was saying (though the readability of said notes is questionable). Then I drew a cockatrice and a bird thing that might be somehow related to Neogeen's Qrows. PS- this page is actually upside-down in my book.

A couple more pages from my moleskine thumbnail sketchbook. I really like the bottom page, but I only halfway like the middle page. Which is probably why I waited a while to scan. The deer skull was based on a painting Don Brandes(teacher) was working on in class one day. The scene with Amara's Mosscat healing the forest was what I wanted to do originally for the acrylic project, but Brandes wanted me to do something with a character of my own. Which was very frustrating and caused me to draw the braindead drooling cat on the next page. >__>

I've been character developing Manticores the past few days, and this is what I've come up with so far. Don't let his calm exterior throw you off, underneath he's a raging ball of fury. Too bad he's only about the size of a chicken. I killed a pen with this, but it was already mostly worn out, anyway.

If you look at the dates on this one and the one I uploaded yesterday, you'll notice that this was actually drawn the day -before-... hence the lack of horns. I'm not entirely convinced the horns and snake tail will be permanent fixtures, as the greencat seems pretty mutable and shapeshiftery. But I rather like them, so they are apt to be a regular feature, at least.

No, this has nothing to do with Mardis Gras, Except he's pretty crazy, and I hear Mardis Gras is pretty crazy too. First page in my awesome new Watercolor sketchbook. Sometimes I think I know how to use watercolor. Then it informs me just how wrong I am. Didn't really use any reference for this, so I'm sure there are tons of anatomy quirks, but I just wanted to have fun with it. And oh, I did.

I think he has 38 toes. I might be wrong, though. Actual concept sketches! This is AMAZING! I was supposed to do this AGES ago! I plan on doing something with these, kind of an updated logo thing for myself, so feedback on them is appreciated!

Don't know why I never put this here- It's pretty rough and I had to remove the lines from the paper as best I could, but I love it just the same. More meant to express a feeling than worrying about getting the anatomy and stuff exactly right.

I did this to use in my portfolio stuff as a logo or theme. Thiel had suggested that we start 'branding' ourselves right away, so that clients can start associating our names with our art, that's important. Everything has this on it- my business card, my self-promo stuff, my letterhead, and my portfolios have it on every page, along with a handwritten 'signature.' It's not actually my signature, because my real signature's illegible, but I did write my name in brushpen in my 'legible' handwriting.
